Tim & Evie Conkling

Rev. Timothy Conkling (Ph.D-Political Science, MDiv. M.A.-Asian Studies, M.A.- Political Science, M.M.-Choral Conducting and B.M.-Trumpet Performance) and his wife, Evie have been serving the Lord with China Ministries International since 1992 in partnership with Asia Mission Partners since 2004.  Tim is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) where he currently serves as a mentor to men preparing for gospel ministry in Taiwan and other Asian countries. 

 

Tim has planted and/or pastored churches in Taiwan, Indonesia, Hawaii, Boston and other Asian locations.  He has also taught Practical theology, Biblical Counseling and New Testament courses at seminaries in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia and other Asian locations.  Evie and Tim are both conservatory-trained musicians, having met at the Eastman School of Music in 1982 where they were both active in Eastman’s Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship.  In addition to Tim’s pastoral and teaching ministry, he and Evie have served together as worship leaders and church musicians in every church they have served.  Tim is currently pastoring and assisting churches online in Bali, Indonesia during the Covid-19 pandemic.  Tim and Evie have two children, Allison and Martyn.

Asep Sopian

Asep Sopian has been the full-time Indonesian co-worker for Connecting Families since its inception. Fluent in five languages and well-versed in local Indonesian culture and religious traditions, Asep bridges the gap between Muslims and Hindus who have needs and caring Christians who want to help.

 

Asep serves as the full-time translator for the Connecting Families team, assisting Connecting Families founder, Rev. Dr. Timothy Conkling with all communication and logistical matters and distribution of disaster and medical relief funds.

James & Nanci Long

Rev. James Long and his wife Nanci, have been serving churches and communities in Indonesia since the Fall of 2012.  After serving Taiwanese/American congregations in the New York City area, Rev. Long has served as the English Pastor of the Reformed Evangelical Church in Kemayoran, Jakarta from 2012-2014. From 2014, Rev. Long has been the founding pastor of Providence Anglican Church in three locations, Pluitt North Jakarta, Karawaci, and Canggu Bali.

 

Rev. Long and Dr. Conkling have been friends and partners in ministry since the Longs arrived in Indonesia.  They share a similar theology and sense of calling to help refugees and those in special needs due to the severity of the Covid-19 economic crisis.  Nanci has been an integral part of the church ministries and refugee assistance, providing meals and helping to mobilize their congregations to help the hurting.  James and Nanci have four children who live with them in Karawaci.  The Longs are missionaries with the Society of Anglican Missionaries and Senders (SAMS) USA.
